"Hear me, four quarters of the world - a relative I am!
Give me the strength to walk the soft earth, a relative to all that is! Give me the eyes to see and the strength to understand, that I may be like you. With your power only can I face the winds."
--Black Elk
4 Mar 1997 - The Moving Day! And Grand Entry #1
Well, today is the day.
I leave all of my scarecrows behind, my past lovers, friends, best and worst school buddies. I leave them all.
I went to Bryan's house and told him I was leaving, I didn't have a chance to warn him before hand, he had a life of his own, a girlfriend of his own, what could it matter to him anyway if I left with no prior notice? I was only his lover, nothing more, nothing less.
When I kissed him goodbye I could feel him holding me tighter than I have been held in a while. Maybe it was his way of saying I love you, maybe not. It didn't matter anymore. I hope that there is lots of Indian things to do there and I hope that Torry makes the trip ok, she is very pregnant and Rocky doesn't like Joseph and he doesn't like him back so with 2 shepherds and a border collie with us in the front seat of the Uhaul, it should be an interesting 900+ mile ride.
I will miss picking blackberries at Mikes, going to the races, staying out late, looking through the forest across from our house for hawk feathers, listening to 93.3, the Power Pig Radio Station in Tampa, and on Sundays, I will miss listening to Jacob's Indian show on 88.5 and his Walking in Two World's classes. I will miss going dancing with my best friend Joel, I will miss my friends Kim and Ricky and most of all I will miss my MOM!
I will miss Fry Bread Florida style. Florida has the biggest and best Pow-Wow's in the United States!
I hope I can make some new friends in Tennessee, it is my birthplace so maybe I will have lots of new friends to replace the ones I am leaving behind.
No, I don't know what I am doing here making such a hasty decision and I pray I am doing the right thing. Who the hell knows.
Goodbye Mike and Goodbye Bryan!
Hello new life.
The hawk says "I will see you when I get to my new home!"
